Importance of having Seawater Treatment strategies

Seawater Treatment has been around for so many years. It has been so due to the need of fresh water and lack of such resources. All around the world countries are working towards developing water treatment technologies to ensure sufficient supply of healthy drinking water for its citizens. Even though the technology has come a long way from the last decade, the majority of countries still rely on their resources of fresh water to supply drinking water. This has caused nothing but more of earth’s resources to deplete.

The population of the world increases day by day. According to the statistics, in the last 200 years, the population grew drastically from 700 million to 7 billion. That is almost 10 times! Providing for such a large population as a whole is difficult and because of this, around 884 million people have no access to safe drinking water.

Which is why for every country to have a seawater treatment strategy is important.

1. To harness the potential of the sea and stop being dependent on freshwater resources that will deplete soon.
2. To focus on building technologies around desalination that complement the objective above.
3. To make such a plan for their country that ensures a healthy lifestyle of its citizens along with caring for the environment.
4. To ensure that no person will face the unhealthy water.

Such a strategy with a timeline of decades can help the countries build a sustainable system that never runs out of clean drinking water. One such example is Israel where growing crops was impossible because it is a desert region with no freshwater resources. Today they not only provide for the citizens comfortably but have a surplus that is used for irrigating land and growing vegetables and important crops. They are the best example of a country making use of the sea.

If every country does have a strategy for providing clean and safe drinking water to all its citizens without harming the environment, we’ll know we are moving towards a better tomorrow.
